ECHA and Cefic sign joint statement to work on effective implementation of REACH
Following the end of the registration phase for existing substances under the EU’s chemicals legislation, ECHA and the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic) have signed a joint statement outlining their future cooperation.
Whether you are a lead registrant or a member of a joint submission, remember to keep your contact details up to date in REACH-IT. By doing this, you ensure that the other members of the joint submission and newcomers can easily contact you when necessary.
If you are not sure how to do it, check out our video for practical advice. If you need to update the contact details of your registration, do so through the REACH-IT menu (Menu/Manage company/Contacts).
Make sure that the email address indicated in the ‘Email notification settings’ is also up to date (Menu/Manage company/Email notification settings). An email alerting you of a new task in your REACH-IT account will be sent to this address every time an action, such as updating your dossier, is needed from you.
Public consultation launched on a derogation request for the restriction of PFOA, its salts and PFOA-related substances
ECHA is inviting comments on a proposal for an additional derogation to the restriction of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), its salts and PFOA-related substances (entry 68 of Annex XVII to REACH), on which ECHA’s Committees for Risk Assessment and for Socio-economic Analysis have been requested to prepare an opinion. Note that this assessment is not being carried out under the normal restriction procedure as this is a specific request from the Commission for a derogation on an existing restriction. The opinions will be sent to the Commission by 1 December 2018.
The public consultation will end on 20 August 2018.
New proposals and intentions to harmonise classification and labelling
New intentions to harmonise the classification and labelling have been received for the following substances:
Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (fibres fulfilling the WHO definition: diameter < 3 µm, fibre length > 5 μm and aspect ratio ≥ 3:1, with a diameter > xx nm), [MWCNT]; (Additional lower cut-off value for the diameter of the MWCNT will be clarified in the final CLH proposal) (EC -, CAS -);
2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenol (EC 211-989-5, CAS 732-26-3);
6-[(C10-C13)-alkyl (branched, unsaturated)-2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl]hexanoic acid (EC -, CAS -).
A proposal has been submitted for 2-(phenoxy)ethanol (EC 204-589-7, CAS 122-99-6).
